Our house faces the Irish Sea and, although it is 5 miles away, it is usually quite visible because we are at a height of about 330 feet and much of the land between us and the coast is flat. Today it is cold and especially clear.
We look out over the north Lancashire coast, just south of Lancaster. In the far distance on the left is the fishing port of Fleetwood, while in the mid ground is Cockerham Sands. Like Morecambe Bay to the north, low tide reveals miles of sands because the area is very flat.
It's certainly very different from the coast of Sussex, where I grew up, but it's still a fantastic sea view!
