We have been wanting to go to Vienna for several years but could not
find a cheap flight to get us there. Then a couple of months ago I
noticed that Jet2 is now going from Manchester to Vienna and we
immediately booked flights and a hotel.
As the date
approached we both kept an eye on the weather forecast which showed very
high temperatures, even by continental European standards. But we
reassured ourselves that this was just a blip and that things would
return to the published average of about 25º by the time we arrived.
Our hotel overlooked Stephansplatz and the magnificent gothic cathedral, so full marks for location.

Next morning we could enjoy the cathedral in all its gothic glory |
During
our short stay we saw temperatures rise from an average-hot 30º to over
35º - a temperature at which we couldn't really do much apart from
drink long, cold drinks and apply sun screen.

The overwhelming interior of St Stephan's Cathedral |
What
a beautiful city but we didn't do it justice. So we've vowed to return
in the winter so we can actually walk around and enjoy its full beauty.
