Beatrix Potter was born on 28th July 1866 in Kensington. She transformed illustration in children's literature and has given huge amounts of pleasure to children, and adults, all over the world.
The Lake District was the inspiration for all of Potter's stories and illustrations.
I have always loved Beatrix Potter's stories, and living close to the Lake District, has ensured that I have had plenty of opportunities to visit her homes and haunts. I love finding the real locations for many of her illustrations. There are plenty of them in Hawkshead, Wray Castle, Esthwaite and Keswick, to name but a few places.
