On Friday we spent the day meandering around the Cartmel Peninsula. We visited Yew Tree Barn for lunch in Harry's Café and a browse around the antiques, then on to the Beach Hut Gallery at Kents Bank. This Gallery has been on our "to visit" list for some time, and we weren't disappointed. A glorious array of glass, paintings and pottery greeted us. We were spoiled for choice. The Gallery showcases work by Fran Brown, Fiona Clucas, Judy Evans, Annie Hudson and others. Finally, we selected a small painting by Laura Pendlebury of Humphrey Head.
The Beach Hut Gallery is an artists' co-operative, located in the old Kents Bank Station Waiting Room and has wonderful views over Morecambe Bay to Arnside and Silverdale. The village of Kents Bank is exquisite and was, formerly, where the cross-sand route over Morecambe Bay met the land. The village takes its name from the River Kent.
We strolled along the shore, enjoying the views. The weather was fairly breezy so this certainly cleared the cobwebs after a week's work.
We finished our day in Grange-over-Sands, with a visit to Abi and Tom's, an excellent garden centre with an amazing array of plants and shrubs.
