January isn’t the best month for long, dark, rainy drives up the M6 so, having enjoyed a lovely Thai meal with friends in Chester, we stayed the night at one of our favourites: Gladstone’s Library in Hawarden.
The next morning we breakfasted well and, after a look around Hawarden’s St Deiniol’s church, headed into Chester and to its fine cathedral. A couple of hours later we were home, enriched by our morning’s wanderings.
