We had a wonderful theatrical day on Saturday. Friends had booked tickets for us all to see 42nd Street, at the Opera House in Manchester. This was very exciting, as I've wanted to see this musical for years.
Then, the friends suggested we make a day of it and book tickets to see Noises Off at the Lowry Theatre! We were a little bit anxious at the prospect of a double bill, but threw ourselves into the spirit of the day.
Both shows were superb and we had a fabulous time. 42nd Street was full of glitz and glamour, the perfect antidote to a rather gloomy day. The cast, which included Les Dennis and Sam Womack, danced and sang their hearts out. The tap dancing was amazing. We were truly transported back to 1930s New York.
We just had time to dash across Manchester to Salford, grab a quick meal at Pier 8 (unexpectedly delicious) and take our seats for the second bill - Noises Off.
We have seen Noises Off before, 10 years ago. It was as funny, wacky and brilliant as we remembered it. The cast was superb and included Liza Goddard, Simon Shepherd and Matthew Kelly. We were all roaring with laughter for most of the evening
What a fabulous theatrical extravaganza with friends.
