On our way to visit friends in Gressingham we couldn't resist stretching our legs around Lord's Lot Wood. The weather had been wet and the paths were boggy in places but we managed a good walk and enjoyed the amazing views across Morecambe Bay.
Although the wood is managed by the Forestry Commission, it is clearly 'light touch' management: fallen trees are mostly left where they fall, to slowly rot and return to nature. Trees that I recognised include oak, beech and silver birch, as well as quite a few pine trees. Surprisingly, we didn't spot any funghi.
