Having been to the theatre to see two productions of The School for Scandal, and with a third one to look forward to at the RSC in Stratford upon Avon, we’ve been browsing some of our beautifully illustrated editions of this wonderful play.
We have three illustrated editions. The first is with Hugh Thompson tipped in coloured plates. The illustrations are so delicate and true to the fashion and style of the times.
Our second illustrated edition is published with another Sheridan play: The Rivals, and is illustrated throughout with Edmund J Sullivan black and white drawings.
And finally, Lucius Rossi’s beautiful edition, with full coloured chromolitho plates, and sixteen colour onlays on the front cover.
