Having posted about Upfront Gallery at Unthank only a couple of weeks ago, we were saddened to read that, just 4 days after we visited, they suffered dreadful flooding which has put the gallery, vegetarian café and puppet theatre out of action, causing significant hardship. The owners live next door and their home was also flooded.
The flooding was caused by runoff from surrounding farmland during especially heavy rain so there was no warning and no way to avoid it.
Now begins the big clean-up and the not inconsiderable cost of completing the miserable task. So, one of our favourite places is out of action for a while.
They have launched an appeal on GoFundMe to help with the cost of uninsured losses.
