Today we’ve been booking the Channel Tunnel, hotels and lots of other stuff for our upcoming trip to Northern France. So, when I picked up my Book Lover’s Almanac, it seemed particularly appropriate that today’s entry reads:
"The Bayeux Tapestry probably goes on display for the first time as decoration for the town's cathedral during its consecration on this day. Likely to have been commissioned by Bishop Odo, William the Conqueror's half-brother and regent of England, the tapestry has Anglo-Saxon elements in the Latin titles, or "tituli", that accompany the images - suggesting it may have been made in England."
We visited Bayeux a couple of years ago, and absolutely loved it, so we're planning a return visit on this trip.
