L M Montgomery and Late Summer

A lovely and very apt quote, from L M Montgomery's Anne's House of Dreams, for this time of year. As the summer starts the gradual slide to autumn. The mornings are getting damp and misty, although the sun is still very strong, especially in the middle of the day.

"The northern sky was amber and pale green over the fir tops. The air was cool, for August was nearing September."

Montgomery is one of the best authors for describing the seasons, and it's clear from her journals, that she loved the late summer and early autumn. I love all of her Anne books, as well as the many other novels she wrote.

I'm really enjoying the end of the summer, and looking forward to my favourite season: autumn.
