We had a lovely, autumnal day on Friday at Beetham Garden Centre's Apple Day. This event happens every year and, as well as lots of apples, there is also a wide range of interesting food stalls.
We sampled many different apples including Meridian, Queen, Honey Crisp Desert, Falstaff, Ashmead's Kernel and St Edmund Pippin. They were all delicious, and I love them for their names. There's something so lovely biting into an apple named Falstaff or St Edmund Pippin.
We strolled around the displays of apples and food stalls. I was delighted to spot Grasmere Gingerbread on sale, and quickly snapped up a small packet, to enjoy with a pot of coffee.
As the weather gets colder it's these small pleasures that make autumn my favourite season.
