Anniversary Antiquarians

We recently celebrated our wedding anniversary and - of course - this was a good excuse to get some beautiful books. Lindsey read somewhere that the traditional gift for this particular anniversary is fine books but I think she might have dreamed this.

We love buying antiquarian books of places we have visited, fascinated at how much places have changed - and how much they have stayed the same - in 200 or so years since they were published. Our latest acquisitions are Andrew Biggs Wright’s History of Hexham, from 1823; and Eboracum: or, The History and Antiquities of the City of York written by Francis Drake. Originally published in 1736, our edition is from 1788.

The two volume History of York includes a detailed account of the history of the city’s Cathedral Church, now known as York Minster.

Both books are beautifully leather-bound and are in great condition. They make a very good addition to our collection.
