In February 2016 we moved from Dolphinholme to the village of Over Kellet, a few miles north of Lancaster.
It's an interesting, ancient village, mentioned in the Domesday Book. It has several buildings which include a 17th century date stone and a church with 12th century origins. There is an attractive, diamond-shape village green at its centre, indicating its agricultural origins. Around the village green is the Over Kellet Conservation Area and our house is within this designated area.
The people seem very friendly and we're looking forward to settling in.
But first there are all those books to find a home for. More shelves...
April 2018 Update
It’s now over two years since we moved to Over Kellet and we are very much enjoying life here. Our neighbours are all lovely and the village has a real sense of community. We’re also enjoying the extra space that our house gives us - especially space for our book collection. Since we moved in we have rediscovered books that were ‘lost’ in our last house.
I’ve enjoyed making the new house ‘Smart’, introducing newer technology in places. The larger house needed a better wi-fi router and we now have no dead spots. Movies and television programmes are streamed around the house in perfect high definition. Our garden has an internet-connected irrigation system which waters the plants when dry weather is forecast.
Are we enjoying our new house? Yes.
